I & E Technician - Intern

Clean Harbors is searching for a licensed, reliable and safety-oriented Instrumentation and Electrical (I&E) Intern to join our La Porte, TX team! The intern will shadow I&E Technicians for instrumentation checks, calibrations, and PLC Ladder Logic, along with diagnosing issues with control circuitry and assisting the electrical, maintenance departments with various tasks as needed and update documentation as needed.
Wage: $25hr
Intern duration: Summer June-August (some flexibility in start and end dates)
Housing: Not provided. Prefer candidates to live in a commutable distance from La Porte, TX
- Ensures that Health and Safety is the number one priority by complying with all safe work practices, policies, and processes and always acting in a safe manner
- Assists in troubleshooting instrument and control malfunctions
- Shadows preventative maintenance checks and calibrations, cabling, power distribution systems and motor control centers,
- Maintains accurate records and logs as required
What does it take to work for Clean Harbors?
- Enrolled in or a recent graduate a two year I&E program, or Electrical Engineering Technology type program
- Proficiency in CAD or similar software
- Knowledge of P&IDs and schematics preferred
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
- Highly motivated and self-starter with the ability to work independently
- Proficient in MS Office Suite – Excel, Word and Outlook
- Must be able to communicate with all levels of the organization written and verbally
- Lift to 50lbs, climb ladders, stoop, bend, stand for prolonged periods, exposed to various weather conditions and work at heights
