Position Title: Claims Account Executive

Location: St. Louis, MO - Remote Flexibility

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Claims Account Executive to join our dynamic US Marine Claims team. This role is responsible for managing and advocating on behalf of clients throughout the claims process, with a focus on commercial marine property and liability claims. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical expertise, excellent communication skills, and a client-first mindset to ensure timely, fair, and well-supported claim outcomes. While the position is based in St. Louis, MO, we offer flexibility for it to be performed remotely.  

 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Serve as the primary claims contact for assigned commercial maritime accounts 

  • Manage end-to-end claims handling, including initial reporting, documentation, carrier engagement, and resolution 

  • Advocate for clients in coverage disputes, leveraging policy language, legal precedent, and industry resources 

  • Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to support claims positioning and strategy 

  • Provide guidance on emerging legal, regulatory, and industry trends affecting marine and property claims 

  • Maintain accurate claims records and provide regular updates to clients and account teams 

  • Participate in client meetings, renewal planning, and risk review sessions as needed 

 

Qualifications: 

  • 3+ years of experience in commercial insurance claims, preferably within marine, transportation, or property sectors 

  • Strong understanding of policy forms, coverage interpretation, and claims negotiation 

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills 

  • Proven ability to manage multiple claims and prioritize effectively 

  • Client-focused with a proactive and collaborative approach 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Insurance, Maritime Studies, or related field preferred 

  • Insurance designations (e.g., AIC, CPCU, ARM) a plus 

Compensation and Benefits

The expected base salary range for this role is $75,000 to $95,000, depending on experience and location.

In addition to a competitive base salary, employees are eligible to receive a discretionary bonus. Howden also offers a variety of benefits and programs, subject to eligibility, including:
