About the role

The Intern, Power Strategy will play a vital role in executing Riot’s power strategy for its bitcoin mining and AI/HPC operations. In this role, the Intern, Power Strategy will be responsible for maintaining power strategy dashboard, market research, and monitoring Riot’s 4CP program. This helps Riot its execute power strategy and supports the continued growth and development of Riot’s self-mining and AI/HPC businesses.

Essential Functions

• Maintain and update the team’s dashboard tracking ERCOT settlement prices, ancillary services pricing, load trends, and grid conditions
• Maintain financial models for valuing energy and provide market research
• Supporting daily ancillary obligations process.
• Monitoring natural gas, power prices, and ERCOT system conditions to recommend hedging opportunities and strategy.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Proficient with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
• Proficient in financial analysis and the development of complex financial models to analyze trading/hedging opportunities, including financial forecasting, scenario analysis, “what-if” analysis, etc.
• Entrepreneurial spirit and an “ownership” attitude required to drive projects forward.
• Knowledge of the Bitcoin network, Bitcoin mining metrics and Energy markets is preferred.
• Proactive problem-solver.
• Strong interpersonal skills, able to quickly establish and maintain positive professional relationships both internally and externally and to work well with project teams and external advisors.

Education and Experience 

• Passionate about Bitcoin and developing the Bitcoin ecosystem.
• Working towards a Bachelor’s degree in business / accounting / finance / economics/ data analytics.
• Experience in financial analysis, modeling, data analytics, coding etc.
