Starting salaries generally fall between the minimum and midpoint of the range. Each offer depends on the candidate’s experience and qualifications, internal pay equity, and available budget. Salary offers are negotiated individually based on these factors.
SUMMARY OF POSITION
Make a direct impact in the community by helping keep Richland’s water systems running safely and efficiently. This position performs difficult skilled work in the planning, scheduling, and hands-on work for the installation, maintenance, and repair of water distribution and irrigation systems, while supervising and supporting assigned staff. Working under the Water Manager, you’ll play a key role in delivering reliable service to residents and public spaces.

Selection will be based on overall qualifications, and an interview process. The final candidate selected will be subject to a comprehensive background/reference check commensurate to the position.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or GED.
Three (3) years of increasingly responsible water distribution system maintenance, construction, or operations experience.
One (1) year in a lead or supervisory role.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Valid driver’s license.
Valid Department of Health Cross Connection Control Specialist and Water Distribution Manager IV Certifications upon hire date.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS
Prior experience with automated meter reading systems.
Prior experience in construction including plan reading, specifications and conducting pre-construction meetings.
Familiarity with maintenance programs and scheduling.
Excellent communication skills with internal teams, citizens, contractors and developers.
