Department Summary

The Division of Student Affairs (DSA) exists to support and further the mission of the University by developing, delivering, and advocating for services and programs that unite and support students’ academic and life pursuits. DSA is one of the largest divisions at the University of North Texas and includes Assessment, Housing and Residence Life, Recreational Sports, Career Center, Office of the Dean of Students, Student Health & Wellness, Counseling & Testing, Student Activities, The Center for Fraternity and Sorority Life, Auxiliary Services, Dining, Center for Leadership & Service, Sustainability, Center for Leadership & Service, RISE Center, Veteran Services, TRiO, and more.

Position Overview

This position is responsible for oversight of a three-year project to increase retention rates and Texas Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS) waiver use rates of students with experience in foster care. Duties may include program planning and development, budget allocation and monitoring, and oversight of program/project activities including program marketing, program/curriculum development, assessment, and community outreach. This position will also manage a statewide peer mentor program. This is a grant partnership funded by the Moody Foundation and executed by Education Reach for Texans and the University of North Texas. Education Reach for Texans, or Reach, is a 501c3 nonprofit that champions postsecondary education success for students with experience in foster care. This position has guaranteed funding for three years.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Higher Education, Psychology, Business, Data Science and four years' of professional related experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Ability to adapt to program/project and incorporate creativity and originality
Strong facilitation and presentation skills.
Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills.
Ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations orally and in writing.
Ability to work under pressure, to handle multiple tasks.
Ability to keep complex records, to assemble and organize data of complex nature, and to prepare and submit reports in acceptable formats.

Preferred Qualifications

Master's degree in social work or other social sciences, and four years of professional related experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
