A Day in the Life

Nice to have: Minimum requirements:

Bachelor's Degree in engineering, science or technical discipline required; Master's Degree preferred. Minimum of 4 years relevant experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 2 years relevant experience

Prior back-end product development experience, carrying a new product from feasibility through launch.

Expertise with mechanical design, design for manufacturability, engineering prints and GD&T

Expert knowledge and experience with 3D CAD software (Creo / Pro Engineer preferred).

Expert knowledge of analytical software such as Ansys, CE-Tol, Minitab, MathCad, MATLAB, Simulink, LabView

Expert knowledge and ability to design to Geometric Dimensioning &Tolerancing per ASME standards Y14.5M-1994.  Advance tolerance analysis in 2D and 3D.

Understanding of medical device industry and competitor products. Full knowledge of other related disciplines including cross functional fields and market competition. 

Understanding of clinical and regulatory pathways, IP and internal processes.

Knowledge of electromechanical/mechatronic systems

Excellent communication skills both oral and written. Effectively communicate and works cooperatively with others as part of a team.

Thorough knowledge of laboratory instrumentation and computer software skills utilizing research-based applications.

Outstanding abilities with and wide application of drafting practices, GD&T, 1D tolerance analysis and 3D analysis.

Knowledge of kinematic and stress analysis of mechanical systems.

Nice to haves:

Knowledge of manufacturing processes including metal casting, sheetmetal forming, injection molding, thermoforming of plastics, RIM, cable hardness design and assembly

Mastery of statistical process control in mass production as well as Six Sigma (DFSS) for design validation and optimization.

Prior experience designing to meet IEC60601 testing.

History of working with formal engineering requirements in DOORS, Jama or similar software

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.

• Conducts research, design, development, and testing of electrical or mechanical hardware such as computer chips, circuit boards, mechanical and electrical components.
• Ensures reliability, develops technical specifications for production, analyzes hardware configuration and processing solutions, and tests hardware conformance to specifications; may design new or modify existing products .

TECHNICAL SPECIALIST CAREER STREAM: An individual contributor with responsibility in our technical functions to advance existing technology or introduce new technology and therapies. Formulates, delivers and/or manages projects assigned and works with other stakeholders to achieve desired results. May act as a mentor to colleagues or may direct the work of other lower level professionals. The majority of time is spent delivering R&D, systems or initiatives related to new technologies or therapies – from design to implementation - while adhering to policies, using specialized knowledge and skills.
