Job Description: English Language Development Teacher 

Reporting to: School Principal or another administrator as designated by the Principal 

Status: Full-time, Exempt, 11-month

Role Summary: 

Basic Components of the Job Description for the ELD Teacher position include (but are not limited to): 

 

Curriculum & Instruction Support 



Collaborate with the Director of Curriculum to plan and deliver pre-service summer professional learning for new and returning staff. 





Partner with principals to integrate standards into daily lesson plans. 





Work with administrators and the Director of Curriculum & Instruction to select curriculum for the ELD Intervention class. 





Lead organization-wide PD on SDAIE strategies and provide feedback on classroom implementation. 





Analyze CELDT and STAR data with Student Data Coordinators to inform program improvements. 



Schoolwide Responsibilities 



Uphold Bright Star Schools’ mission, values, and student-centered culture. 





Build strong relationships with students and actively reinforce school-wide behavior expectations. 





Participate in professional development and collaborate with school leaders to strengthen programs. 





Communicate professionally with students, families, peers, and supervisors. 





Support school operations, including attendance procedures, supervision duties, and participation in culture events. 



Instructional Responsibilities 



Follow Bright Star curriculum maps and plan rigorous, standards-aligned weekly lessons. 





Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners, including ELLs and students with IEPs. 





Implement administrator feedback and maintain a positive, consistent classroom environment. 





Maintain gradebooks, meet reporting deadlines, and communicate regularly with families. 





Collaborate with Inclusive Education staff, support supplemental programs, and provide tutoring as needed. 



What You’ll Bring: 



Single subject, ELA or multi-subject credential 





Candidates enrolled in an intern credential accepted 





At least three years teaching English Language Learners and a demonstrated track record of success in improving their language acquisition 





Familiarity with the policies, procedures, and training associated with the administration of the CELDT 





Proficiency in analyzing, communicating, and presenting data  





Understanding and command of the best practices in teaching ELLs 





Fluent in Spanish or Korean (preferred) 





Bachelor's Degree 





Possession of either Bilingual, Cross-Cultural, Language and Academic Development (BCLAD) certificate; Cross-Cultural, Language and Academic Development (CLAD) certificate; Bilingual Certificate of Competence (BCC); or Language Development Specialist (LDS) certificate desirable
