Satellite Specialist/Medical Assistant (Neurology, Port St Lucie)

Nemours is seeking a Satellite Specialist/Medical Assistant (Neurology) PART-TIME, to join our team in Port St. Lucie, Florida.

This position is responsible for: Greeting patients in accordance with Nemours Standards of Behavior. Perform registration, check-in/check-out functions for the clinic(s). Verify and update demographic, insurance, PCP and authorization/referral information when required at each encounter. Act as an important liaison between the patient and the physician. Coordinate patient flow, review charts for current information, and ensure that the appropriate paperwork/films accompany the patient to the rooms. Take vitals, pertinent history and enter EMR. Assist with Financial Counseling, HMO Authorizations, and address patient/family concerns/complaints. Act as a resource to the divisions and cross cover as necessary. Provide service to internal and external customers as a member of the clinic team. Serve as a trainer and mentor to new employees. 

The position is responsible for the following: 

• Ensure all annual mandatory forms are complete, accurate, updated and on file in accordance with NCC policies.
• Collect all co-pay, co-insurance and self-pay amounts due for services rendered. Adhere to end of day business processing standard by verifying receipts balance. 
• Schedule follow-up appointments as instructed via the appointment disposition. 
• Room patients ensuring appropriate documentation is with the patient (x-rays, labs and test results) and ensure patients are properly gowned prior to x-rays and examinations.
• Handle all incoming calls with courtesy, aiding and information as needed. 
• Ensure all patients are documentation is available at the time of visit. 
• Place ancillary orders (diagnostic, surgical and RX) at the direction of the physician.
• Assist physician with procedures performed in the clinic.
• Ability to cross cover clinical and clerical positions and all other duties as assigned by supervisor/manager.
• Refer patients to financial counselor as appropriate, providing/explaining application for funding. 
• Clean, prepare, and stock exam rooms for daily activity. 
• Other duties as assigned. 

Job Requirements 

• Must have a High School Diploma. Associate degree preferred.
• Minimum 3 months of experience required.
• Certified Medical Assistant preferred.
