Title

Staff Development Instructor -PRN

The Education Services Instructor serves as a role model, consultant, change agent, and facilitator in assessing learning needs, planning, implementing and evaluating educational activities for staff, clients, and/or faculty in the area of responsibility. Delivers education in an effective and efficient manner. Works collaboratively with all members of the healthcare team. Employees providing direct patient care must demonstrate competencies specific to the population served.

Bachelor's degree in Nursing required Master's degree in Nursing preferred 5 years clinical experience with a focus in areas of specialty preferred Teaching experience preferred

Licensed Registered Nurse in good standing with the State of Michigan

BLS certification required by completion of core orientation BLS instructor certification required within 1 year of hire Certification in Childbirth Education within 1 year of hire preferred (Family Centered Education) Credentialed EPIC trainer preferred (Computer Instructor)

• Knowledge of Learning Management System administration is highly preferred • Must interpret assessment of educational needs of nursing staff and other healthcare professionals • Must have the knowledge to plan educational programs with interdisciplinary team members • Must be able to design and develop training programs for new computer systems or enhancements of existing systems or programs (Computer Instructor) • Must be able to evaluate effectiveness of computer training (Computer Instructor) • Must be able to operate and perform computer programs associated with documentation and record keeping in the department, proficient with multiple business software programs including Microsoft Office • Must be willing to become American Heart Association BLS Lead Instructor and assist in the management of BLS classes at Bronson. • Ability to apply critical thinking and trouble shooting skills • Must demonstrate excellent human relation skills, including verbal and written communication, problem solving, and assertiveness. • Must have a customer service orientation. • Must demonstrate leadership and organization skills including the ability to work independently and take initiative. • Must demonstrate a positive attitude. • Must be able to work in and cope with the changing environment. • Must demonstrate flexibility. • Must demonstrate team-building skills. Work which produces high levels of mental/visual fatigue, e.g., interactive and repetitive or small detailed work requiring alertness and concentration for sustained periods of time, the operation of and full attention to a personal computer or CRT between 40 and 70 percent of the time. Involves considerable standing or walking, regular lifting of light-weight objects (i.e., 20 pounds or less) and assisting with heavier tasks such as assisting in lifting and moving patients. Minor straining or fatiguing positions must be assumed, and some fatiguing physical motions are required. • Educator/Teacher: o Coaches individuals and groups to competent performance; manages learner progression along orientation pathway o Demonstrates expertise at needs assessment, design and implementation of learning processes, including clinical content and teamwork processes o Selects evidence-based education and change interventions to respond to learning and training needs with individuals as well as organization wide o Selects and recommends education strategies that fit with diverse styles, literacy levels, and cultural and learning style of assigned learners Demonstrates effective, professional presentation skills utilizing verbal, written and technological methods of communication o Seeks experiences to develop, maintain, and improve competence in nursing professional development. Develops and maintains a level of competency appropriate to one’s practice environment or area of expertise. o Plans educational offerings/programs based on ANA standards for continuing education. o Demonstrates organization and coordination skills by leading, directing, organizing, and evaluating learning activities, participants, and learning content. o Manages human, fiscal, and material resources and facilitates staff competence with the goal of supporting Bronson’s mission, mission, strategic initiatives, and regulatory mandates. o Collaborate
