Communications Specialist

Overview

FedWriters is building a team to provide comprehensive video and broadcast production support for the Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division. In this key personnel role, you will conduct research, interviews, writing, editing, and obtain release/approval for various communication materials including articles, feature stories, news releases, and statements across electronic, web-based, and hard copy formats. You will also support employee communication programs and products, media relations programs, community relations, special events, and provide photography support.

Work Schedule and Location:

On-Site: This full-time on-site position will work Monday through Friday, 8am to 5pm at the Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division.

Responsibilities

• Conduct research for communication materials
• Perform interviews for content development
• Write and edit articles, feature stories, news releases, and statements
• Obtain release/approval for communication materials, including electronic, web-based, and hard copy
• Manage social media platforms and use analytics such as Hootsuite
• Support employee communication programs and products
• Support media relations programs
• Assist with community relations initiatives
• Provide support for special events
• Deliver photography support as needed

 

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Communications field, public relations, or marketing and two (2) years of related experience OR
• Six (6) years related experience in the field for public relations, public affairs, legislative engagement or journalism
• Requires an active Secret level security clearance.
