The Boeing CompanyThe Boeing Company's Regulatory Administration organization within Product, Services and Safety (P&SS) is in search for a Senior Airworthiness & Regulatory Engineer to join its team in Everett, WA.
This job is in the Unit Member (UM) Administration group within Regulatory Administration.
The primary responsibility is working with the Certifications Leaders, the Safety and Airworthiness (SAW) organization as well as the E-UM and I-UM administrators to develop, train and appoint E-UMs and I-UMs, as well as expand authority for existing E-UMs and I-UMs. Secondary responsibilities include helping to develop and maintain training that is used for E-UM and I-UM development; developing and maintaining metrics; process definition and enhancement; overseeing and reviewing performance to processes; helping to resolve process issues relating to the appointment and expansion of E-UMs and I-UMs and their roles and responsibilities in the certification value stream.
The ideal candidate is someone who enjoys working with others representing a very broad diversity of roles and functions, as well as have an eye for detail to ensure requirements are being met. This job requires interfacing and coordinating with multiple organizations and business units, included BCA, BDS, BGS, SAW, MyLearning and other groups within Regulatory Administration, as well as the FAA.
Our teams are currently hiring for a broad range of experience levels including Senior Levels 4 and 5 Airworthiness & Regulatory Engineers.
Primary Responsibilities:
Define and revise procedures and processes in order to resolve clarification or issues relating to the entire certification value stream
Lead cross-functional teams towards the resolution of technical issues
Coordinate with the FAA (including creating correspondence and facilitating communication to obtain ODA/FAA alignment)
Develop strategic action plans and manage those plans through completion
Author and edit relevant procedure documents such as BPM (Boeing procedure manuals) and BPIs (Boeing processes instructions), etc
Ensure proper coordination across products, platforms and functional areas in order to promote adherence to requirements and commonality and consistency of application of procedures and FAA guidance
Participate/instruct engineering unit member candidates on ODA procedures and Part 21 requirements
Participate in the assessment of engineering unit member candidates’ readiness for appointment
Ensure guidance is in place for E-UM compliance findings to support the framework for compliance assurance. Coordinate and communicate guidance across the Enterprise. Assist in establishing metrics and key system indicators for ensuring guidance is being followed
Monitor effectiveness of processes for ensuring separation of showings and findings of compliance; assist in establishing metrics and key system indicators that ensure first pass quality to the E-UMs
This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at the listed location.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience):
Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science
4+ years of experience with systems engineering
3+ years of experience with the CFR (Code of Federal Regulations) Part 25 and Part 21 certification requirements
3+ years of experience with ODA (Organization Designation Authorization) procedures
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
Senior (Level 5): 10+ years related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Experience with FAA Orders 8110.4 and 8100.15 and the entire certification value stream
Experience with project management
Strong communication skills
