Director, Indirect Tax

The Director, Indirect Tax is responsible for managing and directing all activities regarding research, planning, forecasting, audit defense and compliance for all sales, use, and communication services taxes as well as business licenses and property taxes.

 

· Leads and supervises the indirect tax team in the monthly tax compliance reporting and general ledger accounting functions

· Serves as the relationship manager to the third-party compliance services

· Manages tax audits and inquiries, negotiates with tax authorities and resolves tax disputes

· Supports tax policy by monitoring changes in tax legislation and communicate implications to the organization

· Provides guidance on continuous improvements and streamlining processes

· Coordinates the maintenance of software used for tax compliance with Billing IT and Accounting Systems IT to ensure correct rates and tax rules are applied

· Mentor and develop team members, providing ongoing feedback and identifying opportunities for growth

Responsibilities

Master’s degree from an accredited university in accounting

· Licensed CPA

· Previous management experience

· Ability to work independently

· Proven ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines

· Strong knowledge of sales and use tax, communications tax, product tax, excise tax, transaction tax, gross receipts tax, and tax technical concepts

Qualifications

· Previous telecommunications tax experience

· Proficiency in tax data analysis and leveraging data to optimize tax strategies

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills

· Experience working with multiple jurisdictions and navigating complex tax regulations

 

 

Must be able to sit and/or stand for long periods while viewing computer screen, use computer keyboard, and/or mouse.
