Specialist – Data Science, Commercial AI

Job Description

This role involves working with our Commercial AI capabilities team to help create scalable and production-grade analytics products, ranging from data visualization and reporting to advanced statistical and AI/ML models. This role is a hands-on role that will entail writing, integrating, and deploying code into production. You will work with data scientists, data engineers, machine learning engineers, business analysts, and user experience/user design professionals to scale products across our company's global footprint. Within the project team, you will be tasked with delivering on stories that include progress the product forward. This role will require interfacing with executive and business stakeholders, so strong communication skills is a must.

Primary Activities and Responsibilities include and may not be limited to:

• Select statistical, machine learning, optimization techniques to solve business problems and support leadership in prioritizing what to build and setting realistic goals for execution.

• Enable delivery of data-analytics projects. Have deep knowledge of the company's supported technology; understand the whole complexity/dependencies between multiple teams, platforms (people, technologies).

• Influence product strategy and investment decisions with data, be focused on impact.

• Ensure best practices, sharing them across the organization.

• Tell data-driven stories to our stakeholders, partners, and users.

• Collaborate and work functionally in a matrix setup.

• Monitor new trends and methodologies being implemented and to be considered within the product ecosystem.

• Contribute to innovative experiments, specifically to idea generation, idea incubation and/or experimentation, identifying tangible and measurable criteria.

• Establish and manages the close relationship with customers/stakeholders.

Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or related quantitative field.

• Experience in Applied Machine Learning, and applying machine learning to small and large datasets.

• Minimum 2 years of experience with scripting languages (e.g. python) and OOP, data querying languages (e.g. SQL) and use of cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP).

• Self-motivation, proactivity, and ability to work independently with minimum direction.

• Strong business acumen, with aptitude to understand business processes in detail.

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, along with the ability to communicate appropriately and confidently with colleagues from different backgrounds and seniority levels.

• Ability to work hybrid and come into the Rahway, New Jersey office at least 3 days per week.

Preferred Education, Experience, and Skills:

• MS or PhD in a quantitative field.

• Internship experience in cross-functional data teams.

Coding:

• Scripting language experience.

• Experience with deploying to cloud-based infrastructure; AWS, Heroku, Cloud. Foundry, Databricks, DataIku.

Delivery:

• Experiences with project management and data analytics project delivery.

• Demonstrated ability to communicate with stakeholders and distill advanced concepts in a simple manner.

• Proven experience with identifying risks of utilizing different analytics and machine learning approaches.
