About the role
ABOUT THE ROLE
Under the direction of the Quality Manager/Lab Supervisor, the Senior Lab Technician will contribute to the quality control of cement production, from raw materials to finished products.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
- Ensuring quality throughout the entire cement production process, including raw materials,fuels and finished products by examining the sample to determine the physical and chemical properties. Use a variety of instruments and calculations to determine conformity.
- Conducting laboratory tests on samples to evaluate properties like strength,air content, calorific value, density, and other testing for compliance with local, state and national standards
- Maintaining accurate records and documentation of test results, quality control activities, and inventory of materials
- Analyzing test data to identify areas for improvement and optimization
- Collaborating with production teams to implement process enhancements
- Staying updated on industry best practices, new testing methods, and emerging technologies in cement production
- Collaborating with project managers, engineers, and clients to address quality concerns or nonconformances
- Maintaining detailed records of test results and quality control activities for reporting and auditing purposes
- Other key activities may include conducting on-site testing and inspections, interacting with customers and vendors, and assisting in the development and implementation of company policies and procedures related to quality control.
- Workload and Vacation coverage for Lab Supervisor, Physical Tester, and Quality Technician
- Other duties as assigned.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent or 5 years of equivalent experience.
- Field of Study Preferred: Quality Control
- Required Work Experience: 3-5 years of experience in cement testing, Physical Testing or Quality Control
- Required Computer and Software Skills: TIS, LIMS/PIMS, Excel, Word, Email
- Travel Requirements: Occasional travel for training purposes
Additional Requirements:
- Strong understanding of cement properties and testing methods
- Proficient in using laboratory equipment and software for data analysis
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Working knowledge of ASTM Specifications and Procedures
- Ability to carry 75lbs
- Dependable work ethic
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule with some nights and weekends for vacation coverage as needed

- Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Holcim approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Subject to applicable law, employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
