Utopia Home Care of Connecticut is actively seeking a Physical Therapist Assistant for our New London, CT service area.
Overview: A Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) assists licensed Physical Therapists (PTs) in providing physical therapy services, working under the direction and supervision of the PT. PTAs implement treatment plans developed by PTs, collect data, and report patient progress to the supervising therapist. They also educate patients and their families about home exercise programs and other aspects of their recovery.
Pay Rate:
Weekend - $60.00
Weekend - $65.00
Holiday - $70.00
Qualifications:
- Associate Degree from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program.
- Current PTA license in the state of CT.
- Previous experience in home health or geriatrics.
- Have at least three (3) years of clinical experience in physical therapy which meets the qualifications of a physical therapy supervisor or have a physical therapy supervisor on staff to supervise and be available by telecommunication at all times for therapists with less than three (3) years experience.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in the implementation of individualized treatment programs under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist.
- Provide hands-on therapy to patients as directed by the Physical Therapist.
- Educate patients on exercises and activities of daily living.
- Document patient progress and adjust treatment plans accordingly.
- Collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure comprehensive patient care.
- Comprehensive evaluation of client's level of function and participation in development of the total client care plan.
- Identification of client and family needs for other home health services and referral for same when needed.
- Participation in case management conferences.
- Instruction of client, family and other agency health care personnel in the client's treatment regime when indicated, including proper safe use of equipment and assistive devices, as applicable.
- Supervision of homemaker / home health aides when such personnel are participating in the client's regime.
- Participates in discharge planning.
- Participates in in-service programs.
