About the role

At Wisk, we're transforming the future of urban mobility through safe, all-electric, autonomous flight. We are a passionate team working together toward a sustainable future, solving high-impact problems that have never been solved before. By delivering everyday flight for everyone, we're making it possible to spend less time getting there and more time being there. If you want to be part of shaping the future of mobility, then read on!
We are looking for a RSS Simulation Group Leader to join our team. The goal of the RSS Simulation Group Leader at Wisk is to effectively manage a team of simulation and software engineers responsible for the development of Remote Supervisory System (RSS) simulations. Said simulations have a number of applications here at Wisk, including: - Real-time, Hardware-In-the-Loop (HIL), Person-in-the-Loop (PIL) and System-Level simulations  - Monte-Carlo type simulations for the development of autonomous operations - Ground/control segment development and certification activities - Concept of Operations (ConOps) definition and validation - Fleet Management System definition and validation - Operator/’pilot’ training - Maintenance training

Why we need you:

  • With that vision in mind, we are looking for an RSS Simulation Group Leader to lead our Remote Supervisory System (RSS) Simulation Group. The goal of the RSS Simulation Group Leader at Wisk is to manage the team responsible for developing RSS simulations in order to enable the development and certification of the ground-based systems required to safely operate the first fully autonomous all-electric aircraft in an urban air-mobility environment. In support of this goal, you will be part of the Simulation Department that is responsible for developing, deploying and supporting an integrated simulation capability for the enterprise. Your mission is to ensure that the RSS Simulation Group successfully delivers simulation solutions that meet the technical, budgetary and schedule requirements of Wisk’s programs.
  • The successful candidate is a highly knowledgeable and experienced technical leader who has direct hands-on experience developing complex system simulations; particularly in the context of system/sub-system testing, certification or training. In this role, the candidate must be an effective communicator who is able to build consensus amongst internal and external stakeholders. In addition to being proactive, agile and pragmatic, the candidate must be able to effectively balance competing tactical and strategic needs on an ongoing basis.

What you will do:

  • As part of the Simulation Department and deployed in a supervisory capacity, you will manage the RSS Simulation Group that will enable and support a novel type of aircraft development targeting the autonomous UAM market
  • You will directly supervise 5-10 simulation engineers and software developers working within an Agile/Scrum environment
  • You will mentor and foster the career development of team members
  • You will ensure that the RSS Simulation Group is appropriately resourced to meet program technical, budgetary and schedule objectives
  • You will provide technical guidance and oversight for the development, integration, acceptance, certification and sustainment of RSS simulations used for a variety of purposes throughout the enterprise
  • You will assist in the definition and management of simulation requirements
  • You will assist in the definition and management of the simulation product roadmaps and backlogs
  • You will assist in the establishment and management of departmental budgets and schedules

What you have done:

  • Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline with 10+ years of relevant experience
  • Minimum 5 years of hand-on experience developing complex system simulations; preferably in a real-time simulation environment
  • Experience developing HIL/SIL simulations and test environments
  • Experience with the modeling, stimulation and/or integration of at least one of the following aspects of aerospace related simulation:
  • ---- Aircraft Avionics  (FMS, EGPWS, WXR, TCAS etc)
  • ---- Aircraft Systems (pneumatics, electrics, hydraulics, etc)
  • ---- Aircraft Flight Dynamics (aerodynamics, stability, flight controls, etc)
  • ---- Command and Control (C2) links
  • ---- Air Traffic Control Systems
  • ---- Communication Systems (ACARS, CPDLC, etc)
  • ---- GPS/Navigation Systems
  • Experience with software development, preferably using C/C++, Python, Java, Matlab/Simulink
