Summary
The Data Reporting Analyst II supports the Division of Communications & External Affairs by analyzing, managing, and presenting data to enhance the department’s communication strategies. This role involves collecting and interpreting data, creating reports, and providing insights that drive decision-making and improve communication initiatives. The ideal candidate is highly analytical, detail-oriented, and proficient in data visualization tools, with a strong understanding of communication metrics and trends.
Key Responsibilities
Data Collection and Analysis
- Collect, analyze, and interpret data from various sources, including social media platforms, website analytics, surveys, and program engagement metrics.
- Identify trends and insights to evaluate the effectiveness of communication strategies and campaigns.
- Develop dashboards to track key performance indicators (KPIs) for communication efforts.
Reporting
- Create clear, visually appealing, and actionable reports for stakeholders, including senior leadership, program managers, and external partners.
- Present findings and recommendations to the Division of Communications to inform and optimize outreach strategies.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure accurate reporting and alignment with departmental goals.
Strategic Support
- Work closely with the Communications team to identify data-driven solutions for increasing community engagement.
- Provide insights to enhance content development, digital outreach, and public relations efforts.
- Evaluate the performance of campaigns, events, and programs using quantitative and qualitative methods.
Data Management
- Ensure the integrity and security of data by following best practices for collection, storage, and reporting.
- Maintain and organize a database of historical communication metrics for ongoing reference.
- Develop and update processes for collecting and analyzing new data streams.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with other divisions within the Department of Parks and Recreation to align communication strategies with organizational priorities.
- Assist in the creation of communication materials by providing data insights and supporting messaging.
- Train staff on data tools and interpretation as needed.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, media, data analytics or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in data analysis, reporting, or a related role; experience in a communications or public-sector setting preferred.
Technical Skills
Proficiency in data analysis tools such as Excel, Tableau, or Power BI.
Familiarity with Google Analytics, social media analytics tools, and CRM platforms.

Excellent communication and presentation skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.

Work Environment
This is a hybrid role requiring occasional on-site attendance at department offices, parks, and community events.
