Status: Non-Exempt, Full-Time

Hours: 37.5 Hours/Week

Work Shift: 10:45 AM - 6:45 PM, weekends are required

Rate of Pay: $16.50/hour

Sedgebrook is recruiting for a hospitality focused Prep Cook to join our team! This position is responsible for full-scope, hands on production cooking in the Community Culinary Services Department, including maintaining a superior level of quality service and cleanliness at all times.

Here are a few of the daily responsibilities of a Prep Cook:

  • Assists in preparing all food products as scheduled, to include regular lunch and dinner service and any catering or other special functions using production sheets and approved recipes.
  • Properly presents all food items and provides maximum appeal and freshness.
  • Follows HACCP procedures and practices.
  • Maintains kitchen sanitation and equipment cleaning schedule.
  • Follows proper handling, preparation and holding guidelines, takes temperatures at regular intervals, and maintains sufficient quantities of food while being careful to avoid over-production and waste.
  • Communicates appropriately with all dining services staff, supervisors, and listens effectively.

Here are a few of the qualifications we need you to have:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
  • Minimum of one-year experience in food preparation.
  • Food Service Sanitation certification or ability to obtain one after employment.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. independently.
  • Must be able to stand or walk for up to 8 hours per day. 
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, and stretch frequently throughout the day.
  • Must be able to see, hear, and communicate with others.
