Colgate-Palmolive Company is seeking a highly qualified Principal Scientist or Senior Principal Scientist of Biomedical Imaging to join the Global Devices Research and Innovation team. This pivotal role involves the development and validation of advanced imaging methodologies to monitor oral & skin health, and to substantiate product efficacy. The successful candidate will engage in extensive collaboration with a diverse, cross-functional team of internal and external subject matter experts across Biological Sciences, Clinical Innovation, Engineering, and Marketing disciplines.

 

What You Will Do:

  • Lead the development and implementation of in vitro and in vivo imaging methodologies pertinent to both oral and skin health.

  • Define the technological architecture, facilitate the integration of novel external technologies and best practices, and execute the imaging method development process. This includes the design, prototyping, optimization, and validation of imaging methodologies and associated protocols.

  • Document product efficacy, elucidate the Mode of Action (MoA), develop and substantiate novel product claims and demonstrations, in close collaboration with biological science and clinical teams.

  • Generate comprehensive documentation, including detailed instrument specifications, key performance requirements for imaging instruments, laboratory testing & clinical protocols, and formal research reports on study outcomes.

  • Conduct advanced data processing and sophisticated simulations to extract critical insights from experimental data, thereby facilitating the creation and support of new MoAs and innovative product claims.

  • Present technical information, fundamental scientific principles, and complex engineering concepts to senior management, marketing teams, and R&D colleagues, by incorporating computer-generated renderings, rapid prototypes, experimental data, and test results.

  • Assume leadership role for research programs, encompassing the management of internal teams, external collaborators, and budgetary allocations.

  • Contribute significantly to intellectual property generation through the development of invention records and active support for patent applications.

 

Required Qualifications: 

  • Ph.D. or an equivalent terminal degree in Biomedical Engineering, Medical Physics, or a closely related scientific or engineering discipline.

  • 7+ years of professional experience in the development and practical application of in vitro and in vivo imaging methodologies for biological systems.

  • Demonstrated extensive expertise in tissue / cellular imaging and molecular imaging, and proficiency skills in the interpretation of imaging data. Prior experience in oral and and skin health applications is highly preferred.

  • A robust track record in biological imaging research and applications, evidenced by extensive scientific publications and granted patents.

  • Possession of a strong fundamental knowledge of optical imaging principles and the theoretical understanding of related fields, such as spectroscopy.

  • Extensive hands-on experience in the design, construction, maintenance, and troubleshooting of optical imaging devices and instruments, including but not limited to Laser confocal microscopy and Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) systems.

  • Advanced expertise in image processing and the development of sophisticated data processing algorithms utilizing modern programming languages.
