Position Summary

• Responsible for planning, developing, and implementing all aspects of the Stroke Program at designated SIH Hospital and supports the SIH Stroke Program.

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing

Licenses and Certification

• Illinois RN license

• SCRN certification within 1 year of hire required

Experience and Skills

• Technical Experience: 5 years

• Critical Care Experience preferred

Role Specific Responsibilities

• Facilitates Stroke Center and Program accreditation including Intracycle Calls, Performance Plan, Survey Readiness, and Lead the team day of survey.

• Provides coordination between SIH Hospitals, Community Hospitals, Stroke Teams, Nursing and Ancillary Departments, ED Physicians, Neurologists, Neurosurgeons, Radiologist, Physiatrists, Physician Offices and Patients.

• Leads and monitors Stroke team meetings, and components of the program to ensure that they meet the goals and objectives of the programs and are consistent with the overall Neuroscience strategic plan.

• Provides educational training to SIH Hospital assigned.

• Plans and participates in educational meetings for ED physicians and Hospitalist.

• Provides stroke education to general public through Community venues as determined.

• Reviews cases both concurrently and retrospectively to make necessary changes in the program by providing feed-back to team members and Neurologist,

• Maintains on call status for Code Stroke patients shared with other Neuro nurses.

• Leads, organizes, and teaches the Stroke Survivor Series for patients and families.

• Maintains a Call Back program including EMMI for discharged stroke patients at designated hospital.

• Round on and educate the in-house stroke patients on their specific stroke risk factors at designated hospital.

• Assist Neuroscience Medical Director with two educational symposiums per year (EMS and Brain Death).

Compensation (Commensurate with experience):

$73,049.60 - $113,235.20
