About the role

About Us

Social Finance is a national nonprofit and registered investment adviser (SF Advisors, LLC). We work with the public, private, and social sectors to create partnerships and investments that measurably improve lives. Since our founding in 2011, we have mobilized over $500 million in new investments designed to help people and communities realize improved outcomes in workforce and economic mobility, health, and housing.

We are driven by the belief that social and economic systems should enable all people to thrive, and the conviction that we can create the most meaningful and measurable change in our communities when governments and markets work together. Our organization is built upon five core values: people, performance, integrity, collaboration, and inclusion.

Our work spans four areas: Impact-first Investing, Workforce and Education Investments, Advisory & Public Sector Practice, and the Social Finance Institute. Our Impact-first Investment team designs, launches, and manages investments that provide solutions for effectively deploying impact capital across a range of social outcomes. Our Workforce and Education Investments team designs, launches and manages financial solutions focused on addressing workforce challenges, including skills acquisition and training access. Our Advisory team partners with government and philanthropy leaders to implement data-driven programs for advancing social impact. And through the Social Finance Institute, we aim to build the field and change systems through actionable research, communities of practice, and educational outreach.

The Opportunity

Social Finance is currently seeking an experienced Executive Assistant to provide direct support to our President & COO and typically two or more members of our Leadership Team. This opportunity is ideal for a mission-driven, highly organized professional who thrives in fast-paced environments and is passionate about using their strategic and operational skills to support leadership in the social impact space.

Responsibilities

  • Proactively manage executives’ complex and often evolving calendars by identifying and addressing scheduling conflicts, ensuring a balanced cadence to each day and week, allowing for buffer time to prepare for and debrief meetings; ensuring ad hoc meetings are properly prioritized against recurring ones
  • Provide confidential support for the President & COO’s email inbox, including flagging urgent messages, organizing lower‑priority correspondence, and preparing draft responses as needed
  • Complete all administrative work on behalf of the executives, including: monthly expense reports; research and book travel itineraries; be on call to handle last-minute changes in travel and schedule as necessary
  • Support the President & COO in all aspects of Client Relationship Management (CRM) including tracking of contacts, recurring meeting planning, and attending meetings as necessary
  • Support executives with basic tech troubleshooting and partner with IT to address and resolve higher‑level technical issues
  • Support planning and execution of the annual multi‑day Social Finance Offsite retreat in Boston, including logistics coordination, vendor management, travel arrangements, agenda development, onsite operations, and post‑event follow‑up
  • Plan and manage key events such as the annual Boston office holiday party, staff retreat-related activities and other team‑building or Boston office–specific events
  • Serve on the Boston Office Culture Committee, including attending bi-weekly volunteer meetings—contributing to agendas, capturing notes, partnering with office leadership, and advancing initiatives that strengthen office culture
  • As part of the overall administrative team, provide back-up support for fellow administrative staff (e.g., staff reception occasionally, provide interim calendar management for executives); provide additional general support as needed (e.g., managing team-wide calendar of recurring management meetings and events, supporting office management, planning team-wide events and lunches, providing basic tech support)
  • As appropriate, identify additional area(s) of focus based on desired professional growth and organizational need (e.g., Knowledge Management, firm-wide Client Relationship Management, Office Management)
