Environmental Technician II
This position supports the implementation of the Auwahi Wind Environmental Habitat Conservation Plan. The Environmental Technician will work on a full-time basis supporting the post-construction mortality monitoring and mitigation needs of the project.
Responsibilities:
Support HCP mitigation needs of the project, including seabird nest monitoring, setup/implementation of predator control.
Participate in mitigation reforestation efforts, including planting, invasive weed control, and fence checks.
Provide support at the Auwahi Wind facility for post- construction mortality monitoring (PCMM), including conducting fatality searches following established protocols and reporting.
Provide support for data entry, protocol development, and inventory control.
Provide support for vegetation management and similar Environmental tasks.
Requirements:
High school diploma or GED equivalency
2-4 years of relevant experience
Through a combination of education and/or experience must have sufficient knowledge and skills to perform the duties and/or responsibilities listed above.
Have ability to hike in rough and uneven terrain for 5-7 miles per day.
Must have the ability to perform the following frequently: bending, squatting, kneeling, twisting/turning, climbing, stooping, overhead reaching, sitting, standing, lifting/carrying, pushing/pulling.
Must have the ability to perform the following occasionally: typing/keyboarding, driving (car/equipment).
Be willing to work safely outdoors in potentially inclement weather conditions and rugged terrain.
Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
Preferred Requirements:
Be able to clearly follow verbal and written instructions and adhere to monitoring protocols.
Competent use of Trimble GPS units to collect complete and accurate data.
Ability to work independently with little guidance from management.
