Sr. Patient Scheduling Coord

JOB SUMMARY: Provides administrative support for a specialty surgical care team. Maintains knowledge base to ensure smooth daily operations and patient care.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or equivalent with three years' experience in customer service. Previous experience in a surgical specialty environment preferred.

LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION, and/or REGISTRATION: N/A

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Answers phone calls for the specialty care team and schedules appointments.
2. Obtains authorizations for office visits and special tests from insurance companies.
3. Coordinates ancillary studies and ensures results are available before appointments.
4. Facilitates physician-to-physician communication and cancels/reschedules appointments as needed.
5. Reviews and ensures accessibility of all digitized studies.
6. Schedules ambulatory procedures and coordinates clinical activity between residents and faculty.
7. Receives and manages external referrals and urgent requests.
8. Performs financial duties such as authorizing insurance and assisting with billing questions.
9. Performs other assigned duties.

SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS:

• Ability to use multiple computer software systems simultaneously.
• Self-motivated with the ability to work independently.
• Positive attitude when interacting with the public.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Medical office

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: May involve standing, walking, sitting, bending, reaching, finger and hand dexterity, talking, hearing, and seeing. Lifts, carries, pushes, or pulls up to 20 lbs. maximum.
