JOB SUMMARY: Provides administrative support for a specialty surgical care team. Maintains knowledge base to ensure smooth daily operations and patient care.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or equivalent with three years' experience in customer service. Previous experience in a surgical specialty environment preferred.
LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION, and/or REGISTRATION: N/A
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Answers phone calls for the specialty care team and schedules appointments.
- Obtains authorizations for office visits and special tests from insurance companies.
- Coordinates ancillary studies and ensures results are available before appointments.
- Facilitates physician-to-physician communication and cancels/reschedules appointments as needed.
- Reviews and ensures accessibility of all digitized studies.
- Schedules ambulatory procedures and coordinates clinical activity between residents and faculty.
- Receives and manages external referrals and urgent requests.
- Performs financial duties such as authorizing insurance and assisting with billing questions.
- Performs other assigned duties.
SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS:
- Ability to use multiple computer software systems simultaneously.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently.
- Positive attitude when interacting with the public.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: Medical office
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: May involve standing, walking, sitting, bending, reaching, finger and hand dexterity, talking, hearing, and seeing. Lifts, carries, pushes, or pulls up to 20 lbs. maximum.
