About the Role:
Do you want to use data to help drive the direction of Faire's product features that impact small and medium businesses (SMB)? If yes, we want to talk to you. We're seeking a Senior Data Engineer who combines a deep understanding of building scalable data pipelines with a passion for applying software development best practices to data-driven solutions. You'll design, build, and maintain the critical infrastructure that empowers our data-driven decision-making, product development, and business insights. In this role, you'll see a direct link between your work, company growth, and user satisfaction. You'll work with A players, work with one of the richest data sets in the world, use cutting-edge technology, and see your efforts affect products and SMBs regularly.
Job Description & What You Will Do:
The perfect candidate will have robust software and data Engineering skills, an understanding of software engineering best practices, data infrastructure, and architecture skills, a proven track record of leading and strong operational skills to drive efficiency and speed, strong project management leadership, and a strong vision.
- Architect Robust Data Pipelines: Design and implement highly reliable, scalable, and performant data pipelines (ETL/ELT) to process structured and semi-structured data from diverse sources into our data lake and data warehouse.
- Champion Data Quality: Develop and enforce data quality standards, implement monitoring, and proactively troubleshoot data integrity issues.
- Contribute to Data Infrastructure Quality: Participate in testing, code reviews, and using tools like CI/CD to help the team build reliable and scalable data pipelines.
- Collaborate Cross-Functionally: Work closely with data scientists, analysts, product managers, and software engineers to translate business requirements into effective data solutions on marketplace quality, pricing parity & catalog completeness.
- Mentor and Guide: Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior data engineers/co-op interns, fostering a data-driven engineering culture.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Over 3+ years of Software Engineering + Data Engineering expertise.
- Demonstrated communication skills with a history of initiating and steering successful projects.
- Hands-on development experience in at least one object-oriented language, Python or Java.
- Expert SQL proficiency with proven competencies in designing well-architected data models, optimizing query performance, and documenting code.
- Experience and strong knowledge of data warehousing concepts, big data technologies, and analytics platforms.
- Experience implementing and owning enterprise BI tooling (Looker, Tableau, or similar visualization/dashboarding tool).
- Experience working with DBT or similar analytics workflow tools, as well as airflow and git workflows
- Project management experience.
- Holds a BA/BS degree in Computer Science, Math, Physics, or a related technical field.
Salary Range:
California / New York: the pay range for this role is $177,500 to $244,000 per year.
Colorado / Washington / New Jersey: the pay range for this role is $160,000 to $220,000 per year.
This role will also be eligible for equity and benefits. Actual base pay will be determined based on permissible factors such as transferable skills, work experience, market demands, and primary work location. The base pay range provided is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
