Software Validation Engineer

The Role

Audio Infotainment Testing, Vehicle level testing, Working with FORD HIL test team, Defect Management with customer & Visteon SW Dev team, First level of defect triaging
Skills: Audio/Infotainment/FORD HIL/A2B /Sirius XM/DAB/Vehicle testing

Mission of the Role: To drive the quality of a product by performing testing in the early stages of software development with maximum coverage, making it efficient and repeatable through automation with minimal supervision. Responsible for mentoring and guiding other team members to elevate their performance.

Key Objectives of this Role:

  • Understand and interpret software requirements for optimal testability.
  • Create, execute, and automate test plans across various components and features.
  • Manage test environment, infrastructure, and defect tracking.
  • Ensure comprehensive test coverage and alignment with DevOps strategy.
  • Develop and implement quality reports and maintain categorized test suites.
  • Automate testing processes for wider coverage and efficiency.
  • Define reusable test scenarios and contribute to test-driven development.
  • Lead and mentor junior members, fostering collaboration and knowledge sharing.

Key Performance Indicators: 

  1. Test automation coverage: Target 70% (Year 1), 80% (Year 2).
  2. Defect escape rate from testing: Target 20% reduction (Year 1), 30% reduction (Year 2).
  3. Team member development: Target 80% positive feedback on mentorship and guidance (Year 1), 90% (Year 2).

Key Year One Deliverables: 

  1. Increased test automation coverage by 10%, leading to faster and more efficient testing.
  2. Reduced defect escape rate from testing by 20%, improving software quality.
  3. Successfully mentored junior team members, fostering knowledge sharing and collaboration.

Qualification, Experience and Skills:

  • Engineering degree (Master's preferred)
  • 10+ years in automotive software development & testing
  • SDLC knowledge
  • UI Automation expertise (Selenium, Robot, Appium)
  • Multi-project management experience
  • Strong domain & feature knowledge
  • Scripting & framework expertise (Python, Capl)
  • DevOps familiarity (tools & processes)
  • Continuous improvement & build process experience.
  • Agile/Scrum understanding.
  • Solution-oriented, critical thinking from a testing perspective
  • Expert in requirement analysis
