About the role
Church Pension Group (CPG) is a financial services organization located in Midtown Manhattan. CPG was founded in 1917 to provide pension benefits to eligible clergy of the Episcopal Church. Since then, its mission has expanded to include life and disability insurance, health benefits, property & casualty insurance, and publishing. Benefits Relationship Management (BRM) is responsible for relationship management with the institutions and individuals that CPG serves. To serve, support, and educate both B2B and B2C clients, BRM will maintain deep benefit knowledge and collaborate with partners at CPG and external faculty to create impactful points of connection with benefits clients (existing and prospective) so that all come to understand, access, and appreciate the products, programs and services we offer. The Associate Relationship Manager (West) will report to a Director of Relationship Management and be responsible for the day-to-day relationship and account management of dioceses, (including diocesan leadership), larger parishes (10 or more enrolled employees), and groups within a designated territory as well as serving as faculty for CPG events. The designated territory Includes: Province V, “the Province of the Midwest,” is comprised of eleven Midwestern dioceses: Chicago, the Great Lakes, Indianapolis, Michigan, Missouri, Northern Indiana, Northern Michigan, Ohio, Southern Ohio, Springfield, and Wisconsin.Province VI of The Episcopal Church – The Land of Mountains, Lakes and Plains – includes the dioceses of Colorado, Iowa, Minnesota, Montana, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Wyoming.Province VII is comprised of the Episcopal dioceses of Arkansas, Dallas, Kansas, Northwest Texas, Oklahoma, Rio Grande, Texas, West Missouri, West Texas, Western Kansas, and Western Louisiana. Candidates should be reasonably close to a major airport. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Develop and maintain strong, trusting, and professional relationships with assigned clients for all benefit related products, so they come to experience and understand us as a consultative benefits partner
- Provide consultative analysis and support to clients on benefits as well as CPG programs and services
- Serve as faculty for business to business, and business to client events
- Deliver administrator onboarding and education training
- Provide knowledge, service, and intervention to report, track, and resolve client issues and complex cases, escalating where appropriate
- Prepare for and provide pension overview and retirement preparedness conversations
- Identify, plan and design sales proposals and financial analyses
- Act as a conduit for insights (two-way from CPG out to clients/church and from clients/church to CPG)
- Ability to build strong, trusting, and consultative relationships with all levels of Church leadership
- Strategic thinking and consultative skills
- Professional demeanor to serve as a “face of CPG”
- Ability to understand and resolve complex issues and problems
- Ability to communicate complex information in an understandable fashion
- Ability to learn and become fluent in CPG benefits products and services and Episcopal Church polity
- Highly effective verbal and written communication skills
- Advanced presentation and public speaking skills
- BA/BS preferred. Combination of education and experience considered
- 3+ yrs of experience in Account Management required
- Experience with benefit related products preferred (Pension, Health and Welfare)
