Established in 1978, Cleveland Clinic's Sleep Disorders Center was among the first in the nation dedicated to the diagnosis and treatment of sleep disorders in people of all ages. Accredited by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine, our team performs more than 9,000 annual studies, using each result to help patients address distressing symptoms and effects. As a Polysomnographic Technician, you will assist your dedicated and expert caregivers in this area of treatment improvement. You will perform various diagnostic sleep studies, aiding in our mission to enhance quality of life and health for people across the globe. A caregiver in this position works nights, from 7:00pm—7:00am. 

 

A caregiver who excels in this role will:   

• Prepare patients and equipment for ordered testing. 

• Interview patients to determine sleep disorder issues and explain testing procedures. 

• Perform and document testing. 

• Monitor patient throughout testing and intervene as necessary to resolve patient needs or equipment issues. 

• Score, interpret and report results of sleep studies. 

• Prepare, calibrate, repair and maintain equipment required for testing. 

• Determine and report needed repairs/replacements. 

 

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:   

• High School Diploma/GED 

• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) 

• Must be actively pursuing appropriate sleep certification as recognized by AASM 

• 1 year of polysomnographic testing and scoring experience 

• OR 1 year of EEG, Respiratory Therapy or healthcare related experience
