General Description:

  • Lead key strategic Clin Dev Solid Tumors (CDST) initiatives and projects and assess, monitor and report impact
  • Provide leadership in the areas of business strategy & operations, operational insight generation, data and systems
  • Under the direction of the Chief of Staff, lead and/or support optimization of assigned CDST process, organization, staff development and decision making
  • Lead/support development and tracking of goals and key performance indicators for CDST

Essential Functions of the job:

  • Member of the CDST Office of the CMO, Strategic Planning and Operations (SP&O) team; collaborate with colleagues within CDST and other functions to deliver commitments to the organization and to patients
  • Support insight-driven CDST strategic & operational decision-making by leveraging internally and externally available data sources
  • Plan, track and manage progress of the CDST strategic and yearly goals/objectives and other performance indicators
  • Proactively identify capability gaps and improvement opportunities within CDST and/or across BeiGene organization that have impact on CDST, and generate ideas to address
  • Develop and lead cross-functional teams in generating new ideas and approaches to address and/or enhance capabilities, efficiencies and other improvement measures
  • Provide CDST project management support as needed. Act as project leader to plan and execute the assigned projects ensuring identification of the right scope and application of project management best practices
  • Provide internal support to ad-hoc Solid Tumors clinical development project, for example, coordinate and support SOP document update, support the request from clinical development colleagues and provide advice based on the request
  • Under the direction of the Chief of Staff, facilitate CDST Leadership Team meetings, including identifying agenda topics, conducting discussions, and ensuring follow-up actions are completed
  • Under the direction of the Chief of Staff, lead and/or contribute to the annual operating planning (AOP)
  • Represent Chief of Staff, the SP&O team and/or CDST, as needed, in collaborations with internal and external key stakeholders as appropriate

Experience and Education:

  • At least 5 years of experience leading large scale strategic initiatives in the pharmaceutical, biotech or related industry
  • Bachelors degree and 12+ years of relevant experience or advanced degree and 8+ years of relevant experience
  • A masters/MBA and 15 years of experience in biotech, pharmaceuticals or a related field is preferred
  • Proven leadership in identifying business needs, problem solving and taking initiatives to drive changes
  • Experienced in project/program management, generating insights, and summarizing complex information into concise reports
  • Strong business acumen with ability to think strategically about business issues and drive alignment
  • Experienced developing complex strategies with input from internal and external stakeholders
  • Experienced leading meetings/workshops and facilitating brainstorming sessions
  • Proven track in change management, managing conflicts, internal and external
  • Experienced building quarterly, annual, and multi-year strategic plans and coordinating across an organization
  • Strong analytic and strategic thinking skills with attention to details
  • Not afraid to challenge “status quo” with constructive ideas and improvement objectives
  • Experienced in resource and budget management
  • Ability to multi-task, work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Effective time management and organizational skills
  • Excellent presentation and verbal communication skills
  • Expertise in PowerPoint, excel, Smartsheet

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • May have supervisory responsibilities
  • Mentor and coach less experienced staff
