The Department of Art at St. Mary’s College of Maryland is accepting applications for the position of Visiting Assistant Professor of Drawing and Painting, beginning August 2025. Teaching responsibilities will include introductory and advanced courses in drawing and painting. All professors at St. Mary’s are expected to contribute to the college-wide core curriculum as well as to their departmental curriculum.

Non--sectarian since its founding, St. Mary’s College of Maryland, a public Carnegie Baccalaureate, Arts and Sciences institution located in St. Mary's City, 70 miles southeast of Washington, D.C., has been designated as Maryland's public honors college. Qualifications

• Applicants must have an M.F.A in Studio Art with expertise in drawing and painting at all levels and be committed to excellence in undergraduate teaching.
• An interest in attracting and retaining students from underrepresented groups is desirable.
• The successful candidate must produce the necessary documentation to legally work in U.S. upon hire.

Employment will be contingent upon successful completion of a criminal background check.  

The salary range is $65k-$69k, depending on qualifications and experience.
