The Role

FL97 is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Research Associate or Sr. Research Associate, Protein Sciences to join our team.

You will be part of an agile, cross-functional team responsible for building the autonomous molecular biology platform and executing closed-loop product discovery campaigns. Together with biologists, machine learning scientists, software developers, and automation engineers, you will work toward building and automating AI-driven molecular biology and biomolecule production processes across a variety of valuable applications.

The ideal candidate brings primary expertise in molecular biology and protein science, with a proven track record of building high quality and scalable in-vitro assays and biomolecule production platforms. All scientists must be willing to learn and use basic Python and/or R programming. A background in industrial drug discovery & experience is preferred.

Responsibilities:

• Design and implement experimental strategies for cloning, expression, and purification of biological molecules, including proteins and nucleic acids, leveraging automatic systems to streamline workflows
• Assist in the development and implementation of high-throughput screening assays for the evaluation of biological molecules.
• Demonstrate proficiency in operating and utilizing liquid handlers and robotic systems for automated laboratory processes.
• Collaborate with biologists, machine learning scientists, software developers, and other engineers to develop and optimize AI-driven processes.
• Track and maintain excellent data records in formats amenable to computational workflows.
• Contribute to the development and improvement of laboratory protocols and workflows to ensure efficiency and accuracy.
• Analyze and interpret experimental data, prepare technical reports, and present findings to internal teams and stakeholders.

Qualifications:

• A bachelor's or master's degree in biochemistry, molecular biology, biotechnology.
• Minimum of 2 years working experience
• Strong hands-on experience with cloning, expression, and purification of biological molecules, including proteins and nucleic acids.
• Knowledge of molecular biology techniques, including PCR, DNA analysis and sequencing
• Experience with bacterial cell culture techniques, including growth, maintenance, and transformation
• Familiarity with automation techniques and high-throughput screening methods.
• Demonstrated proficiency in working with liquid handlers and robotic systems for automated laboratory processes
• Familiarity with Python programming for data analysis and automation is a plus
