Job Description
Eurofins Advantar Laboratories is seeking a highly motivated and results-driven Routine Testing Leader to set the vision for our routine testing services and drive business performance. This position reports to the Lab President, is a member of the lab leadership team, and also has responsibility for eLIMS implementation/adoption and materials management. Strong emphasis will be placed on building a business focused on scalability, efficiency, and quality. The successful candidate will lead a team of laboratory scientists and technicians, ensuring the delivery of high-quality testing results that meet client expectations while driving the development of streamlined and scalable processes to support our growing business.
Specific Duties, Activities, and Responsibilities
- Run the lab: Manage the day-to-day operations of the routine testing business, ensuring timely completion of projects while maintaining a high standard of quality and compliance.
- Manage the business: Drive the business to achieve your financial commitments. Understand which levers you have at your disposal and pull them as appropriate to achieve targets
- Drive performance: Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure efficiency, scalability, and quality across testing processes
- Establish management operating system: Build systems and processes for cascading ownership in a manner that empowers while driving accountability
- Build a culture of continuous improvement: Lead the implementation of lean methodologies to optimize workflows, reduce waste, and enhance productivity
- Enable scale: Establish and adhere to clearly defined systems and processes that are scalable. These should be designed for the lab we want to be, not what we are today
- Clarify org structure: Establish and maintain an organizational structure that is designed around client needs, built for efficiency, scalable, and where roles are clearly defined
- Focus on talent: Attract, retain, and develop top talent with the future needs of the business in mind (strategic workforce planning)
- Find growth: Work closely with the sales team, and engage clients, to identify opportunities for growth/new offerings. Be forward looking and take ownership for the success of your business
- Ensure quality: Ensure all testing activities are conducted in compliance with regulatory guidelines (e.g., FDA, GMP, GLP) and company quality standards. Be a champion for quality and build a quality culture
Qualifications
Knowledge & Skill Requirements
- Demonstrated expertise in developing and scaling laboratory operations
- Effective communicator (oral and written) and strong presentation skills; including the ability to effectively communicate to senior leadership
- Proven identifier and developer of both individual talent and future leaders
- Familiarity with lean principles, Six Sigma, or other process improvement methodologies
- Proficiency in laboratory information management systems (LIMS) and data analysis tools
- Demonstrated ability to successfully engage clients and build trusting relationships with commercial teams
