About the role

The Nurse Manager is responsible for the management of nursing practice and operations of the evening Emergency services units. This includes, but is not limited to, the management of clinical nursing practice, staff recruitment, retention, labor relations, supply chain and budget, staffing, employee performance evaluation, quality improvement, staff education, medical records, internal and external regulatory and survey requirements. The Nurse Manager collaborates with multiple professionals to support and coordinate the provision/management of patient care. The Nurse Manager works closely with the Nursing Clinical Director, unit Dyad partner, and staff to ensure that the Service/Unit maintains the highest standards of patient care and is responsive to the needs of the patient & family as well as the organization.

  • Directs, administers, and assigns patient care activities for 84 Nursing FTEs and 34 ED Technician FTEs in a 65-bed, level 2 trauma emergency department.
  • Staff Management, recruitment, retention, labor relations, employee performance evaluation, staff education, and staff schedules.
  • Work closely with bed management and throughput and other multidisciplinary teams
  • Performance/quality improvement projects, internal and external regulatory and survey requirements.
  • Maintenance of OMH/JCAHO Standards and implementation and evaluation of Quality Performance Initiatives.
  • Patient experience/satisfaction.
  • Supply chain and unit budget.
  • Contributes to the profession of nursing through leadership and participation in professional organizations.
  • Other duties as assigned. 

Education Requirements

Bachelor of Science with a major in nursing and master’s degree in nursing or healthcare-related field or be enrolled in a program preferred

Experience Requirements

3-5 years minimum demonstrated clinical and nursing administrative expertise in the area of nursing practice assigned.

Licensing and Certification Requirements (if applicable)

Licensed as a registered nurse, Issuing Agency: Department of Health/Office of Professions in New York.

Professional Board Certification in leadership and/or clinical specialty is preferred.

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Issuing Agency: AHA
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Issuing Agency: AHA 
  • Pediatric Advanced life Support (PALS) Issuing Agency: AHA
  • Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC)

 

Compensation Statement

 

The Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) provides a salary range to comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for this role is $115,494.00 - $173,241.00 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
