Job Summary

Reporting to and with general supervision from the Director of IT User Support and Endpoint Management, the Endpoint Management Specialist champions campus-wide endpoint reliability and security by coordinating the configuration, deployment, and lifecycle management of end-user devices for California State University East Bay (CSUEB), San Francisco State University (SFSU), Sonoma State University (SSU), and their auxiliaries. Working within the San Francisco Bay Region Network, this position supports consistent, high-quality technical assistance and secure access across all three campuses, aligning endpoint practices with Network service standards and user experience goals.

The Endpoint Management Specialist is responsible for administering endpoint management platforms, maintaining configuration standards and documentation, and ensuring device health, security, and compliance with institutional requirements. Key duties include provisioning and decommissioning devices, packaging and deploying applications, managing operating system and application patching, enforcing device compliance, and maintaining accurate inventories and configuration records, with a focus on consistent provisioning, security, and lifecycle maintenance across desktops, laptops, and mobile devices. The role collaborates closely with campus partners and user support teams to deliver reliable, policy-aligned endpoint solutions that meet campus needs and service levels.

Unit Overview 

The San Francisco Bay Region Network (SFBRN) provides centralized administrative and transactional functions for CSUEB, SFSU, and SSU, creating a unified, cost-effective operational structure. The Information Technology unit within the Network delivers secure, reliable, and innovative technology solutions that support all three universities. The unit manages infrastructure, application services, user support, information security, data management, and strategic IT operations. Partnering closely with each university’s leadership, including Presidents and Provosts, Information Technology drives digital transformation, promotes operational excellence, and supports institutional goals. Within Information Technology, the User Support and Endpoint Management teams deliver responsive, high-quality technical assistance to faculty, staff, and students. These teams provide on-site and remote support, manage incident logging and triage, configure and secure endpoints, and maintain the Network’s knowledge base for self-service. The Endpoint Management team ensures consistent device provisioning, security, and lifecycle maintenance across desktops, laptops, and mobile devices. By enabling reliable access, timely troubleshooting, and proactive guidance, these teams enhance the user experience, reduce disruptions, and empower the university communities to leverage technology for teaching, learning, and administrative success.

Key Qualifications

Equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in a related field and four years of relevant experience. Additional experience which demonstrates acquired and successfully applied knowledge and abilities shown below may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis. An advanced degree in a related field may be substituted for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.

This position requires the successful completion of a comprehensive livescan and background investigation.    

Salary and Benefits

This is a full time, exempt position, which will lead toward permanent status following the successful completion of a probationary period. The CSU Classification Step Range for this position is $6,492 to $9,458 per month (step 1 - step 20). Step placement will be determined based on relevant qualifications and professional experience. Step placement upon appointment is not expected to exceed Step 10 ($7,759 a month).
