Distinguished Service Professor - Special Faculty

Description
The Integrated Innovation Institute (III) at Carnegie Mellon University seeks a Special Faculty to join as a Distinguished Service Professor focused on AI coursework and broader AI policies across the department. This position would teach students across degrees within the III, including: the Master of Integrated Innovation for Products & Services (MIIPS) degree, Online Certificates, Engineering Design, Innovation & Entrepreneurship, and others, if needed. While this role will teach in multiple programs, final candidates will be based in Pittsburgh.
Qualified candidates will have a proven track record in teaching and work experience related to AI. Experience with product development, innovation strategies, entrepreneurship, and an interdisciplinary mindset is highly encouraged to align with the values and goals across the III.
Outside of the classroom, this Special faculty will manage the following opportunities:
- Support for AI work across the staff team
- Determine III standards for equipping students to use AI in their careers and expectations to appropriately use AI while learning
- Map and index all AI-identified courses in primary and secondary course families across all iii courses.
- Identify areas for improvement in curriculum design or outdated materials based on AI trends and their impact.
Qualifications
- Has experience in teaching and/or working in the following areas:
- AI system development and data architectures
- AI Training and Implementation
- Curriculum development based on rapidly changing technical needs
- Master's degree required, PhD Degree, preferred
- Previous teaching experience required
- Work experience related to products and/or service development preferred
