Clinical Lab Assistant - Pathology

The pathology laboratory is seeking a full-time Clinical Lab Assistant to support technical laboratory personnel in day-to-day operations of the histology laboratories in the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine.
The incumbent will:
- Prepare simple and complex reagents or media under direct supervision.
- Receive, accession and triage patient specimens, blocks and slides.
- Clear understanding of the standards required to work in a Histology laboratory under CAP and KSOM guidelines
- Monitor incoming phone inquiries and requests.
- Establish and maintain courteous, cooperative relations with clients and other personnel
- Identify and separate specimens to be referred to outside laboratories or analyzed by other USC laboratories.
- Handle and dispose of hazardous and non-hazardous materials in accordance with safety protocols.
- Maintain and organizes laboratory supplies. Monitor inventory levels and order supplies as needed.
- Under direct supervision of pathology administrators, order laboratory consumables and track billing and reconciliations of supplies of the laboratory.
- Must be highly organized, and detail-oriented
- Possesses effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Proficiency with typical software packages such as Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.

Shift: M-F 11:00 am - 7:30 pm, 40 hours weekly
Hour Rate:
The hourly rate range for this position is $19.98 - $25.22. Minimum Education:Related undergraduate study
Combined experience/education as a substitute for minimum education
Minimum Experience: < 1 year
Experience as a laboratory assistant in a clinical lab
