Job Description:

This position is grant funded and supports the FUEL Executive Director with oversight of a strategic plan for Louisiana's energy-focused innovation ecosystem. This includes coordinating with state agencies, supporting research projects, and maintaining data using statistical tools to support the Future Use of Energy in Louisiana (FUEL) senior leadership including the FUEL internal and external evaluators. Additionally, the role involves supporting FUEL outreach initiatives by enhancing presentations tailored for stakeholders, managing various high-priority tasks, and developing and implementing project management methodologies, tools, and best practices to optimize project success. The Project Director will also prepare and present comprehensive progress reports to key stakeholders, ensuring effective communication of project status, budget, and resource utilization to leadership and to the National Science Foundation.

Job Responsibilities:

Oversee the planning, execution, and monitoring of the Future Use of Energy in Louisiana (FUEL) innovation engine projects funded by the National Science Foundation to ensure they are delivered on time, within budget, and according to quality standards. Create detailed documentation, ensuring clarity and usability for all stakeholders. Collaborate with the National Science Foundation, LSU, partner universities, state agencies, and private companies to ensure FUEL reports, data, dashboards, websites, proposal management software platforms, social media, etc. meet their intended purposes and requirements and facilitates efficient data sharing. Develop and implement project management methodologies, tools, and best practices. Monitor project progress, identify risks and issues, and develop mitigation strategies to optimize project success. (35%)

Prepare and present regular progress reports to key stakeholders, providing updates on project status, budget, and resources to leadership. Support and participate in FUEL sponsored events and projects by working collaboratively with the other members of the FUEL senior management, including the FUEL Executive Director and Principal Investigator of NSF, the FUEL Directors of Use Inspired Research, Workforce Development, Technology Commercialization, and Inclusive Community Engagement. Conduct literature reviews, collecting and validating data, and performing analysis in addition to contributing to the preparation of reports and public media and publications. Foster effective communication among team members, stakeholders, and external partners and the NSF to ensure effective collaboration and coordination. (35%)

Support FUEL outreach initiatives by drafting and/or enhancing presentations tailored for stakeholders and managing various high-priority tasks to ensure seamless project execution and stakeholder engagement. (15%)

Coordinate with the unit business officer and other administrative personnel as assigned to complete financial transactions for commodities, travel, sub-awards, contracts, and any other expenditures for the FUEL program or other related state and university budget lines. (10%)

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree and 7 years related experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree and 10 or more years experience in a related field. Candidate should have substantial experience working in the energy sector and be well versed in the energy supply chain, with a specific knowledge in at least one area of the energy sector. Experience in energy sector and familiarity with software like STATA, R, and GIS preferred.

Additional Information:

Physical ability and eye-hand coordination necessary to use a computer terminal, copier, telephone and other standard office equipment; ability to sit in the same position for extended periods (5.5+ hours a day) at a time using continuous hand motions when entering data into the computer system.
