Royal Caribbean Group’s HR Shipboard Team has an exciting career opportunity for a full time Senior Shipboard HR Business Partner reporting to the Senior Director, HR RCI Shipboard.

 

POSITION SUMMARY: 
The Senior Shipboard HR Business Partner is responsible for providing strategic human resource and business critical operational support to ensure the successful operation of a portfolio of ships with a diverse international crew, across multiple deployments in the Royal Caribbean International fleet.  In close partnership with the Regional Directors of Hotel Operations, COEs and with hiring oversight & coaching & development of onboard HR teams. This individual is accountable for all aspects of HR service delivery and program execution, significant problem/incident resolution and talent practice consistency across their portfolio.  


The position reports to the Senior Director of Human Resources Shipboard for RCI and requires regular (up to 40%) ship visits for oversight, coaching, auditing and assessment of onboard operations and talent practices.  Due to the complexity of the shipboard operations individual must possess strong working knowledge of Ship Operations, talent management, workforce planning, recruitment, employee relations and international labor law, performance management, organizational development, L&D, compensation, benefits and HR systems/operations. In addition to the focus on safe operation of our vessels and supporting assigned shoreside functions, Sr HRBPs are expected to participate on a variety of projects and take leadership roles for fleetwide initiatives based on organizational goals, priorities and strategies. As a critical point of escalation, expected to work with a high degree of autonomy and decision making within a very complex labor scheme and company/MLC compliance framework.  

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Supports a group of vessels (ranging from 6 to 9 ships and including 7,000 to 10,000 crew members on average overall) and also provide HR support to certain shoreside operational areas (like F&B Operations, Housekeeping Operations, Revenue Operations, etc). 
  • On Call or available to respond and support shipboard teams in the event of emergencies and critical incidents involving crew and operations.  
  • Accountable for people KPI¿s related to workforce planning, talent management, compliance, HR Operations and crew experience.  
  • Works in close collaboration with Directors of Hotel Operations on both day to day and mid- term HR implications and HR needs derived from operational aspects.
  • Works closely with shoreside and shipboard leaders to support, develop and implement organizational strategies that optimize the performance and overall effectiveness of human resources. 
  • Maintain solid understanding of critical business issues relating to supported vessels and ensure that the HR strategy continues to provide appropriate initiatives and results in desired outcomes.  
  • Actively supports the New Build HR Manager and Team in the Newbuilding planning and reporting process to ensure the startup is properly staffed and there is a minimal impact to the fleet as a result of the drawdown of talent.
  • Provide strategic thought leadership to business leaders and workforce planning on talent and organizational impacts of business plans and decisions.  
  • Work with the business to identify the org structures, competencies, and processes needed to help the business run more effectively and grow according to projections and budget targets.
