Overview
The budget analyst is a key member of the Budget and Financial Planning department. The budget analyst contributes to the development of a multi-year, all funds budget. This individual contributes to a strong internal control environment through monitoring of budget and actual fiscal activity, formulation of policies and procedures, and interaction with departmental staff and faculty. The budget analyst is a resource for colleagues throughout the university, responding to inquiries, presenting budget information, and training colleagues on budget management and financial reporting. This position produces a variety of standard and ad hoc financial analyses including, but not limited to, multi-year budget forecasts, quarterly projections of revenues and expenses, and other reports to contribute to resource allocation decisions and internal controls.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in business administration, accounting, finance, or a related field
- Three to five years of budget or accounting experience preferably in higher education
- Demonstrated experience with budget, accounting, and financial analysis and reporting
- Advanced Excel skills including pivot tables, complex formulas, and analytics. Competency with other analytical tools such as relational databases and financial modeling
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or related field
- Experience in public higher education administration
- Experience using Peoplesoft Finance or other ERP system
- Professional certification (CMA, CPA, etc.)
- Experience with Commonwealth of Massachusetts accounting procedures (MMARS)
- Knowledgeable of GAAP and GASB
Working Location
This is a hybrid position in Salem, MA with some on-campus, in-person responsibilities, which may require occasional work on evenings and weekends.
