Purpose of the Role:
The primary purpose of this Category Manager - Plastics & Resins role is to lead the development and implementation of a comprehensive category strategy for plastics and resins materials, driving business value through strategic sourcing initiatives. This involves leveraging relationships with vendors, internal stakeholders, and suppliers to ensure seamless delivery of high-quality goods and services while driving cost savings, working capital improvements, quality improvements, and proven on time delivery.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Sourcing:
Collaborate with internal stakeholders to identify business needs and develop specifications for each material
Develop a strategic sourcing approach that balances business needs with supplier performance
Identify key suppliers and negotiate contracts to ensure mutually beneficial terms
Conduct market research to stay informed about industry trends and competitor activity
Collaborate with internal stakeholders to identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements
Maintain Supplier Scorecards in accordance with our Supplier Evaluation Process
Conduct research on emerging technologies and trends in the plastics and resins industry
Collaborate with internal stakeholders (R&D, Quality, Operations) to identify opportunities for innovation and improvement
Supplier Management:
Establish and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers of plastics and resins materials
Negotiate contracts and agreements to ensure mutually beneficial terms, including:
Pricing and payment terms
Delivery schedules and lead times
Quality standards and testing protocols
Compliance with company regulations and industry standards
Develop and implement supplier agreements that meet company requirements and objectives
Supplier Agreements:
Develop customized supplier agreements that align with company needs and objectives
Negotiate terms and conditions that balance business needs with supplier expectations
Establish clear definitions of scope, deliverables, and performance metrics
Include provisions for dispute resolution, termination, and non-disclosure
Conduct regular audits to ensure compliance with agreed-upon terms
Quality Assurance:
Ensure compliance with company quality standards and regulations through regular audits and supplier assessments for all specified materials.

QualificationsSkills and Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree
