The Supervisor is part of the selection process which reviews, research, attends VAT, works closely with vendor, becomes super user, assists with planning for deployment to staff, learns troubleshooting and assists with evaluations and launches.

The Supervisor interviews all new hires in the CVT, MIT and Structural Heart CVT roles, provides orientation materials and assigns preceptors,  grants staff access to security and IT systems, maintains scheduling and timecards, conducts promotional and annual performance reviews,  completes corrective actions, management of on call schedules and compliance.

Creation/modification of daily staffing assignments as needed, participates in daily huddle, manages kronos and signing off of timecards, attends bed meeting and other managerial meetings, daily rounding,  performs APRs, maintains the hemo systems and acts as superuser, maintains Cath/EP PACS database, primary troubleshooter for all x-ray equipment and hemo system.

Acts as Charge role, CVT and MIT as needed.

Education:

• Minimum of an associate degree or graduate of an approved Cardiovascular training program or graduate from an accredited Allied Health Program. Possession of licensure/certification as a practical or registered nurse, Radiologic Technologist, or cardiovascular technologist and at least 4 years of work experience in a hospital or clinical setting is required. 

Licensure, Certification & Registration:

• Must hold current New York State registration or possess a limited permit to practice in the State of New York as an RN,RT, or LPN or possess certification as a Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS).
• Current BLS Certification required.
• ACLS and PALS Certification preferred.

Experience:

• Minimum of 4 years in the cardiovascular specialty.
• Expert in normal vs. abnormal anatomy, physiology, radiation safety, interventional supplies, and equipment operation.
• Expert knowledge of the perfusion and hemodynamics of the heart.
• Serves as an expert, and independently performs and interprets all  electrocardiograms.
• Serves as an expert for all diagnostic and PCI procedures performed in the department.
• Serves as an expert for the equipment being utilized intra-procedure.

• Provides oversight to Invasive Cardiovascular Technologists levels I, II and III, Medical Imaging Technologists levels I,II,III, and IV, is able to precept new hires.
• Is the primary educator for all roles of the Technologists in the Cardiac Cath and EP lab.
