This position performs duties to support a safe and secure environment for students, employees and visitors; applies crime risk and safety hazard prevention techniques, methods, practices and enforces University policy and regulations as a uniform presence on campus. Schedule: evening and weekend shift.
Monitoring electronic systems such as but not limited to CCTV and access control.
Patrol interior and exterior of campus buildings and grounds checking for hazards and/or suspicious activity and provide routine lock and unlock services.
Patrol parking lots to enforce University parking regulations and provide escorts to students, staff & faculty to or from their vehicles as needed.
Respond to emergencies, alarms, dispatched calls to investigate and document incidents.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements:
- Medium work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally (with help) and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force regularly to move objects.
- Physical activities include: balancing, stooping, reaching, standing, walking, lifting, grasping, talking, hearing and repetitive motion.
- Required to have visual acuity to determine the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned.
MINIMUM: Must meet the requirements of Chapter 493, Florida Statutes and have a high school diploma and one year of appropriate experience. Appropriate college coursework or vocational/technical training may substitute at any equivalent rate for the required experience.
PREFERRED: Law enforcement and/or security experience.
