Oracle Database Administrator

Aperio Global is looking for a Database Administrator to join our DoD program in Washington, DC. This person will provide Oracle, SQL Server, and Sybase database administration. Experience working with SQL Server and Sybase, such as patching, upgrading, performing backups, and tuning. NTIA has around 12 applications; one or two are using Sybase, three or four are using Oracle, and the rest are using SQL Server. There are also a few applications in the classified network.

Note: This position requires an active Secret clearance

Responsibilities

• Provide server administration with a variety of database products that include Oracle, MS SQL Server, and Sybase.

• Supports the development and sustainment of Oracle, MS SQL Server, and Sybase databases, including database upgrades, performance tuning, database backup, database restore, and database replication, and develop plans and procedures to support those activities.

• Tests database performance and functionality in response to required upgrades to operating systems and web browsers.

• Experience with all aspects of database administration including installation, configuration, upgrades, patching, migration, capacity planning, performance tuning, query optimization, backup and recovery.

• Experience hardening of databases according to DISA Secure Technical Implementation Guidelines (STIGs). RFP AIR22803 Att 1 – SOW Oracle_SQL_Sybase_DBA

• Ability to develop scripts to automate routine jobs; Update or replace existing database installation scripts.

• Proficient with network troubleshooting tools and techniques.

• On-going database performance monitoring and database tuning; tune database for optimal performance.

• Assist with failover activities for both the low and high side.

• Experience with change management including maintenance of multiple development, test, QA, and production environments.

• Able to support proactive database monitoring and issue resolution.

• Able to support implementation of application software releases and other related activities.

• Ensure high availability of databases for user access/ applications. Deliverables:

• Upgrade of Sybase database (hasn’t been upgraded for 2 years).

• Generate backups of databases (Oracle, SQL Server, Sybase).

• Failover databases to disaster recovery site.

• Patch databases (Oracle, SQL Server, Sybase).

• Upgrade Oracle and SQL Server databases.

• Review and apply STIGs to databases. Years of Experience: eight years of experience, of which at least five years must be specialized.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical training, or work/military experience

• 8+ years of related systems engineering experience

• Minimum of 6 years of experience as an Oracle Database Administrator

• Minimum 4+ years experience with MS SQL SERVER, SYBASE

• Active Secret clearance

• Oracle certification Job location is both remote and on-site. Must be on-site as needed (assume at least 2 or 3 days a week) to support the high side (classified) environments.
