About the role

HealthPartners is looking to hire a Senior Underwriter to join our Large Group Underwriting team. This role evaluates the risk in large group cases through the use of medical or experience underwriting. They will provide training and work direction to other department members.

ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Calculate and analyze F/I and S/I renewal and prospect rates.

Prepare benefit alternatives.

Provide technical advice to Sales.

Analyze Employer Reports.

Maintain underwriting policies and procedures.

Maintain rate spreadsheets.

Initiate recommendations for streamlining the underwriting process.

Keep abreast of changes in laws/legislation/competitors and ensure HealthPartners implements changes where needed to maintain its presence in the industry.

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics, Finance, or related field or equivalent work experience.

Minimum of at least 5 years medical or group underwriting experience.

Advanced computer skills using Microsoft Office products or comparable applications.

Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

High degree of math aptitude.

Ability to work independently.

Strong consulting skills.
