Summary
CHS, Inc. has an exciting opportunity in our Agriculture division. We are looking for a Sr. Director, Commodity Trading for our feed grains/corn product line. This position is responsible for the global supply chain and end-to-end margins for the feed grains/corn product line throughout our global locations, providing an effective link to grain markets worldwide for our owners, producers, and customers. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented with excellent communication skills and possess proven leadership capabilities, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability in managing and problem solving through dynamic global environments. As a leader with a track record of driving operational excellence and innovation, the successful candidate will inspire and motivate a diverse group of employees to work as a team and achieve the organization's strategic goals and evolve our capabilities and positioning within global grain markets.
This position is onsite at our Inver Grove Heights, MN global headquarters office.
Responsibilities
Leadership
- Lead and coordinate the CHS trading risk management strategy for corn and other feed grains, providing clear direction and collaborating on functional goals. Translate strategy into actionable initiatives.
- Establish a culture of high engagement that promotes teamwork and continuous improvement. Responsible for developing training and professional development of employees and creating a talent pipeline and succession plan.
- Develop direct reports through sharing of knowledge and ideas, providing clear direction of goals, and initiating development plans for all reports.
- Develop and implement strategic growth plans for team to include new programs, methodologies, business systems that support strategic business goals and objectives. Formulate and track KPI’s to evaluate overall effectiveness to optimize profitability.

Trading and Execution
- Conduct market analysis and execute grain trading strategies, trading futures to manage risk and optimize supply chain profits.
- Provide exceptional customer service through divisional marketing team members or directly, while maintaining the existing customer base and identifying, developing, and building new opportunities.
- Uphold CHS value of integrity by ensuring team compliance with commodity derivatives rules and regulations.
- Ensure transactional escalations with key stakeholders including accounting, transportation, shippers and buyers are resolved
Strategic Planning and Development
- Adopt a forward-thinking approach to global market trends, leveraging data analytics and market intelligence to inform trading decisions. Stay abreast of new market & data technologies and innovative solutions.
- Provide strategic oversight of global commodity flows, risk management across diverse markets, and coordination with global teams.
- Develop annual business plans, budgets, and forecasts for profit centers, formulating risk strategy within enterprise parameters.
- Ensure global alignment of trading strategy for the feed grains/corn product line.
Minimum Qualifications (required)
- High School diploma or GED
- 10+ years of experience in commodity trading
- Prior leadership experience with progressively advancing level of leadership responsibilities
Additional Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree preferred in Ag Business, Ag Economics, or another business-related program
- 15+ years of experience in grains commodity trading preferred
- 10+ years of experience in Profit and Loss (P&L) management including experience achieving and exceeding budgeted financial goals with proven track record of financial performance
- Experience executing large, multi-functional, and cross-organizational assignments, making strategic decisions and influencing leaders to adopt best practices
- Experience working with global teams
- Experience conducting market analysis, negotiating and closing contracts
