Lighting Coordinator
Job Summary
Lead efforts in coordinating, scheduling, tracking, and managing the installation of NESC lighting systems. Responsible for quality control, overseeing lighting contractors, approving payment of invoices, assisting with lighting project designs, and addressing lighting maintenance issues. This person is responsible for ensuring that lighting systems are safely installed within cost estimates, comply with all codes and specifications, while exceeding internal and external customer expectations.
Position will be filled at Level 4 – 5 based on successful candidate’s qualifications.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Work closely with Account Executives, Lighting Consultants and Lighting Design Analysts to facilitate a lighting design that meets all safety and NESC codes and Southern Company specifications.
- Conduct pre-construction job site visits to identify site conditions and conflicts that might impact the safe and timely installation of lighting facilities.
- Coordinate pre-construction meetings with GPC and customer representatives to communicate job site responsibilities and coordinate construction schedules.
- Coordinate with the appropriate Region personnel for the installation and repair of lighting equipment along with distribution facilities.
- Ensure that all permits and utility locates are in place prior to the commencement of construction and remain valid throughout the construction process.
- Review and approval of contract labor unit sheets and tracking of all labor associated with each lighting project.
- Manage job schedule to ensure all commitment dates are achieved.
- Ensure that all labor units are charged to the correct DWE for each lighting project
- Inspect completed lighting installation to ensure compliance with all applicable codes and specifications.
- Assist internal and external personnel with issues related to maintenance of lighting facilities.
Education & Job Experience
- High School Diploma or equivalent required. Associate or Bachelor Degree preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in electric distribution system design and construction.
- Experience with NESC lighting system designs, installations, and repairs.
- Experience managing a contractor workforce.

- Ability to work effectively and efficiently within project timelines and budgets.
- Proficiency with a computer and necessary applications (including the ability to use Microsoft Office, workflow systems (LAMP), invoicing systems (CAMP), ARMS and DistView).
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Experience interfacing with partner organizations such as Power Delivery, Customer Service and Sales.
- Ability to grasp concepts and the changing technology associated with role.
