The Specialty Materials segment manufactures products that provide more than 150 material formulations for glass, glass ceramics and fluoride crystals to meet demand for unique customer needs. Consequently, this segment operates in a wide variety of commercial and industrial markets that include display optics and components, semiconductor optics components, aerospace and defense, astronomy, ophthalmic products, telecommunications components and cover glass that is optimized for portable display devices.
This is a second shift, four day per week position: Monday - Thursday, 3:15PM to 1:15AM
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Simple and intermediate Deburring of high precision machined parts.
- Ensure parts meet all print requirements and functionality.
- Simple and intermediate Helicoiling on high precision machined parts.
- Follows instructions on routers/travelers and uses proper method for deburring/ helicoiling to produce a quality part.
- Problem-solving with assistance of Supervisor or Technical Lead.
- Uses thread gage or gage pins to check parts
- Resolves quality issues that occur during manufacturing by deburring parts with oversight from Supervisor or Technical Lead.
- Washes and dries parts according to requirements.
- Tumbles, packs, and unpacks parts according to specifications.
- Loads and unloads stress relief/thermal ovens.
- Applies Chem Film to parts as needed.
- Flexibility to work to deadlines.
- Keeps work area orderly, clean and organized.
Requirements:
- Must be capable of solving routine production problems as they arise
- Problem solving independently on routine production with awareness of when assistance is needed.
- Must be capable of setting up basic optical testing and performing tests without supervision
- Good organizational skills and ability to be flexible with changing work demands
- Ability to gather data for submission to QA
- Attention to detail and quality paramount.
- Flexibility to work to deadlines.
Working Conditions:
- Gloves are provided for hand protection for exposure to water
- Handling compounds and chemicals
- No heavy lifting
Education/Experience:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- 2-3 years industrial or related experience
- 1-2 years deburring and helicoiling experience
- Blueprint reading preferred
