Job Summary:
The incumbent of this position is responsible for supervision of LPNs and Behavioral Health Technicians, may provide supervision to Registered Nurses, oversight of Modified Medical Detoxification where applicable and providing nursing services to patients in behavioral health and/or substance use disorder treatment ensuring a safe and therapeutic environment.

Key Responsibilities:
- Evaluation of the client’s physical condition and the need for detoxification services
- Provide Oversight to LPNs/BHTs recording initial patient medical histories, taking vital signs as scheduled, and monitoring health status during detoxification
- Complete disease prevention, risk reduction and reproductive health education.
- Arranging medical appointments dealing with medical conditions that occur during treatment and managing medical emergencies, such as accidental injuries and drug reactions.
- Conferring with a physician as necessary or advocating for medical services through managed care organizations.
- Arranging or monitoring special dietary needs for medical conditions.
- Reviewing medication requirements with clients/patients, educating the client/patient and guardian (if necessary) about the benefits of taking medications as prescribed.
- Monitoring medication self-administration compliance with regard to DMH & CARF standards through review of MARs, Documentation of Medication Errors and Medication Occurrences, Implementation of Corrective Action.
- Work in conjunction with PFH associates to ensure residential and medical detoxification clients/patients are appropriate for environmental setting.
- Consulting with the physician or pharmacy to confirm medications prescribed.
- Oversee therapeutic injection of medication (subcutaneous or intramuscular).
- Monitoring lab levels including consultation with physicians, clients, and clinical staff.
- Coordination of medication needs with physicians, pharmacies, clients, and families.
- Monitoring medication side-effects including the use of standardized evaluations.
- Monitoring physician orders for treatment modifications requiring patient education.
- Review of Documentation including appropriate authorizations and assuring that Doctor’s Notes are complete and accurate.
- Schedule Behavioral Health technicians within established policy and procedures under the supervision of Program Director or designee. Assure that proper coverage is maintained per contractual standards. Responsible for monitoring and managing overtime.
- Responsible for interviewing, hiring, and training of new Behavioral Health technician staff/nurses under the direct supervision of the Program Director or designee. Will monitor to ensure that staff obtain the required 36 hours of trainings every two years, which includes monitoring of required and/or assigned trainings on Relias Learning.
- Responsible for the development of individualized training plans for associates and to facilitate weekly supervision meetings to ensure proper training of associates. Responsible for completing and maintaining documentation of these supervisory meetings per CARF/DMH/company regulations.
- Complete all evaluations and required status notices in a timely manner.
