Description

Primary Responsibilities

Produce and prepare sketches and using CAD software prepare detailed drawings, plans, and blueprints. Visit project and client sites to gather information, and determine limitations and feasibility of designs. Update software, drawings, and other documents. Maintain knowledge in current, new, and upcoming technology, equipment, products, and solutions.

 

Essential Functions

  • Develop technical drawings of products using AutoCAD software
  • Make needed revisions to previously submitted drawings
  •  Keep project delivery dates current with Lead Engineer / Designer
  •  Keep current with existing and new products to assure proper design and design implementation with best-suited products.
  •  Assure IPS quality and standardization is applied to design work as it is produced.
  •  Provide sales & technicians support as needed.
  • Distribute drawings to internal departments and external contractors
  • Maintain certifications and training needs.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Technical degree in drafting or equivalent job experience
  • Experience with AutoCAD software
  • Technical design skills
  • Deadline-oriented mindset
  • Attention to detail
  • High knowledge in commercial, industrial, and institutional fire alarm, special hazards suppression, intrusion, access control, and closed-circuit television systems, equipment and applications
  • High Knowledge in state and local building codes
  • Possess excellent math, language, and reading skills. Must fluently speak, read, and legibly write in English.  Must have aptitude to pick up technical information.
  • Must be self-motivated; able to perform with little supervision.
  • Excellent computer skills-must be able to navigate company software and third-party inspection software, enter data and send communication. Requires excellent knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Possess good interpersonal skills, strong verbal and written communication skills, and a professional approach.

 

Physical Requirements & Environment  

  • This is a largely sedentary role; however, occasional travel to jobsites to assist with walk thrus will be required
  • This job operates in a clerical, office setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines
  • All employees of IPS are subject to random drug testing per our Drug Free Safety Policy
  • Background check required. Must have and maintain a clean driving record (no DUIs or other serious violations within the past three years).
