About the role

Description

The University of Montana, Davidson Honors College, invites applications for a non-tenure track Teaching Assistant Professor to begin August 2026. The position will serve as the Program Director taking administrative lead for the interdisciplinary, campus-wide Climate Change Studies (CCS) minor.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and teach two courses for Climate Change Studies and the Davidson Honors College each semester
  • Coordinate experiential learning activities (e.g. research, internships, field experiences, etc.) and mentoring students capstone and independent studies
  • Work strategically with campus partners to manage CCS curriculum, including course/program development and review, instruction, curricular change, student recruitment, public relations, and program assessment
  • Manage CCS course scheduling, catalog updates, and related admin systems
  • Advise and register students interested in the CCS minor; tracking student enrollment, progress, completion and outcomes
  • Review and maintain Degree Works; approve student applications for the minor
  • Manage program website, social media, advising and recruitment materials
  • Collaborate with UM Foundation staff on fundraising efforts, scholarship distribution, and pursuing other external funding opportunities
  • Convene and facilitate the work of the Climate Change Studies steering committee
  • Represent CCS with DHC administrative team
  • Oversee the CCS operating budget
  • Support co-curricular programming, including the annual Climate Change Symposium and the Climate Response Club

Position Details

Non-Tenurable Faculty: Davidson Honors College

Title: Teaching Assistant Professor (Clinical Faculty)

Schedule: Full time 0.8FTE, academic year position

Salary: $48,000- $60,000

Benefits: Medical Insurance/Mandatory Retirement Contribution/Professional Development/Partial Tuition Waiver/Wellness

Primary duties include teaching, scholarship, and service. Teaching responsibilities include a minimum of two 3-credit courses per semester, in addition to supervising practicums and applied learning experiences

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in field related to climate change studies
  • Record of excellence in higher education teaching and demonstrated potential for interdisciplinary undergraduate teaching
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills
  • Ability to advise undergraduate students and support academic and professional development
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with faculty, staff, students, and external partners
  • Demonstrated organizational, management, and leadership skills
  • Ability to learn and apply new technologies relevant to teaching, advising, and program administration
