About the role
Responsibilities
- Assist in the development of an automated machine vision scanning and inspection system.
- Design, assemble, and test mechanical fixtures, sample holders, and system housings.
- Create and modify 3D CAD models for custom components and prototypes.
- Operate and maintain 3D printers for rapid prototyping.
- Support camera, optics, and motion system alignment and calibration.
- Assist with integration of Arduino-based controllers, stepper motors, sensors, and actuators.
- Develop and test automated scanning and positioning routines.
- Support inspection process automation and image acquisition activities.
- Perform hands-on assembly, modification, and testing of mechanical systems and prototypes.
- Assist with fabrication of custom components in the machine shop using standard machining equipment and tools under supervision.
- Assist with troubleshooting of mechanical, electrical, and software systems.
- Document designs, test results, and engineering improvements.
The successful candidate will work as a member of the Quality and Analysis group and support the development of advanced machine vision and automation systems used for optical component inspection and manufacturing process improvement.
This position offers hands-on experience in machine vision, motion control, mechanical design, automation, 3D printing, and prototype development within a high-tech photonics manufacturing environment.
Requirements:
- Experience with Arduino, robotics, automation, or embedded systems is a plus.
- Familiarity with CAD software such as SolidWorks.
- Experience with 3D printing is desirable.
- Basic programming experience in Python is beneficial.
- Strong hands-on skills and interest in engineering design and problem-solving.
